Portable Chromatic Dispersion Measurement System.
The FD440 is fully field-portable
and lightweight measurement systems. Separate transmit and receive
units permit fast characterization of installed cables enabling
optical networks to be efficiently mapped and upgrade options to be
considered. The spectral loss option is particularly applicable for
DWDM upgrade work.
Overview
The FD440 portable test instrument has been designed by
PE.fiberoptics to provide accurate in-system chromatic dispersion
measurement. It is the only field portable measurement system to
measure Chromatic Dispersion and Spectral Attenuation using fully
programmable wavelengths. The differential phase shift
technique used by the FD440 allows direct dispersion measurements at
user defined points throughout the full range of 1250nm to 1650nm.
Ideally suited for dispersion characterization prior to upgrading a
network the FD440 also is useful in implementing DWDM networks and
dispersion mapping of installed fiber links. Expandable: The FD440
offers several broadband source options including extra high power
(XHP) sources and sources specifically designed for testing in the
1620 nm range. A tunable laser source version, the CHROMOS11 is also
available.
